Services

Architectural Emporium work with clients and communities to create distinctive and sustainable architecture rooted in the place and people it serves.
We are architects, but to carry this out successfully we believe it is important to understand our clients’ needs and offer a variety of services, such as interior design, brand advice, conservation, landscape strategy and the principal designer roles. Many of these are embedded in what we do and come free of charge. Others are tailored to the job.

Many of our jobs feature broad client groups or communities. We enjoy working with larger groups to collaboratively develop proposals that are rooted in their place and serve the community who inhabit them. To do this successfully we think it is essential to engage, listen and record the process. When a project requires community engagement we establish a strategy and programme of workshops to engage with the relevant parties.

We enjoy working with clients to unlock awkward sites with a suitable vision, plan portions of city with an inventive strategy or develop exciting proposals that allows clients to secure funding and kickstart the creative process of enhancing a place. Whether a housing development or an arts building, we design spaces where communities thrive. We design bold, adaptable buildings that bring new energy to existing buildings and sites.

We have extensive experience of working with listed buildings, whether they are listed or less heralded, we treat buildings with care and get to know what makes them special We look at ways to intervene that are sensitive and appropriate. Reusing and reimagining buildings is inherently sustainable. We create legible interventions allowing existing buildings to be understood, but also to be adaptable. Luke Cooper has carried out the RIBA Conservation Accreditation course at York University.

We don’t view interior design as a separate service. It is integral to the vast majority of our schemes. We are capable of designing spaces to a distinct aesthetic either integrated with the overall architecture or unique to a specific brief. This applies to all sectors including residential, bars and restaurants, public buildings, arts spaces, community facilities, offices and commercial buildings.

It is imperative that we improve the built environment for current and future generations to enjoy. Sustainable buildings are a key component in this and sustainability is embedded into all of our proposals. We have achieved sustainability accreditations on a number of jobs and always aim to improve the building envelope, utilise robust and appropriately sourced materials, design efficient, flexible, usable and adaptable spaces, consider building services from the outset and work closely to devise an affordable solution that meets a client’s requirements.

We can provide principal designer consultancy in both the Construction Design Management role and the Building Regulations role by either carrying out the service internally by alternative staff members or by recommending a specialist consultant to provide oversight of our work. Both roles are separate to the primary architectural service we offer. Please ask for further information.
