Project Overview
Global Grooves are a Tameside based company who deliver and inspire Carnival activity across the UK. Architectural Emporium were appointed to create artist workshops, studios and storage space alongside a music/dance studio and R&D theatre space. On the other side of the site, an artist residency and accommodation is located.
Their mission is to unite and empower individuals and communities through opportunities to experience and create inspirational art: in particular diverse music, dance, visual arts, and Carnival. Global Grooves have been operating from a number of different sites over the years and have been affected by a significant fire. This scheme provides the opportunity to consolidate their facilities on a single site.

“The project has been an enormous success and has completely transformed the way in which we operate. AE supported us throughout the process. Their creativity, communication and professionalism has helped us create a facility we are extremely proud of and will allow our company to grow and thrive into the future.”
Leon Patel, CEO Global Grooves
The site sits in a small historic industrial area in the town of Mossley. The proposed scheme has not only delivered an upgrade to the site, but also significantly reduced the impact on the surrounding residential areas by converting the Mill to artistic uses, rather than potentially noisy, heavily trafficked industrial uses that occupied the site previously.

The proposed development delivers regeneration for Mossley and Tameside as a whole and significantly contributes to the local area. It is the first scheme in Tameside to have successfully achieved Arts Council funding.
